Frost Year in Review

So Christmas has come and gone, here in the Midwest it was a cold, windy, snowy… mess frankly.  I feel as if I spent more time fighting the snow and worrying whether or not I would be able to get the car out of the driveway, then I did enjoying friends and family.   Don’t get me wrong, Gillian and I did enjoy the time we spent with everyone but the weather just made everything more difficult, but I digress.

As stated in my last post this is not so much a Christmas letter as it is a New Years letter.  As I said last year and as I will probably say every year…Where has the time gone?  This year though, unlike last year, Gillian and I did not have to rack our brains to come up with content for this year’s letter.

The year started off on a bit of a stressful note.  As the economy and the auto industry fell apart; so did the collision repair equipment industry.  Chief Automotive’s sales dropped to nearly zero, and that is not an exaggeration, soon everyone’s salary was cut, I saw the writing on the wall and in April took a new job with Case New Holland as a Design Engineer for the windrower product line.  About a month after I left, Chief announced that the plant was being shut down and all operations were being moved to Madison Indiana.  Now nine month later, I am still trying to figure out how the hell a windrower works and why a “city boy” is back working with farm equipment.  As a sidenote, Gillian’s job is safe and secure, she even got a pay raise!

In June Gillian and I took a trip to Tulum Mexico, with the usual cast of characters; Santi, Sarah, Chris and Kathleen.  It was a nice vacation, especially after all the stress of changing jobs.  It was an all inclusive resort, we did some snorkeling and toured the Tulum Ruins, but mostly we relaxed on the beach, dined at some wonderful restaurants and drank copious fruity drinks.

This season the hockey league I play in started a beginner’s league and Gillian decided she wanted to learn how to play.  The annoying thing is that she is really good, her first time out she was just as good if not better than some of the players that had been playing for a couple years.  The beginner’s league season is over now, she is not quite ready for the normal league but give her a couple more seasons and she might give me a run for my money.

Right before Thanksgiving we finally replaced the floors in the house; we had been talking about this since we moved in to the house three and a half years ago.  I laid tile in the kitchen and laundry room and we had new carpet put in throughout the rest of the house.  The house is finally starting to feel like ours.

…but all of this is really just small news by comparison.  Gillian and I’s big news is that Gillian is pregnant!

She is 12 weeks along and we had our first doctor’s appointment last Monday, everything looks good and healthy. It still does not seem real to us, but Gillian did get a ultrasound so we have proof.  Gillian has been feeling fine for the most part, mostly just tiredness and a little forgetfulness.  Gillian and I are very excited and I will be keeping the blog up to date with all the baby news!

So now that it is January 2 2010, Gillian and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
