Denver Trip (Sorry, no clever title)

We spent last weekend in Denver, visiting Chris and Kathleen.  There wasn’t really much of a plan, just come to Denver and hang out, but we managed to have an eventful weekend.
Friday, we did just hang out, ordered a couple pizzas, played with Eppley, their new dog, and caught up.  Kathleen and Chris are like most of our good friends, we don’t talk to them for six months but as soon as we see them it is like we talked just yesterday.
Saturday we went shopping at the mall, which made me feel old, where we bought some gourmet cupcakes and I had Gillian take a picture of me eating one to submit to “Dudes With Beards Eating Cupcakes” they haven’t posted my picture yet, but I am hoping.  Later, we convinced Chris to buy Super Mario Bros. Wii, because it is the greatest game ever and we forgot to bring it with us, went back to their place and proceeded to scream at each other for two hours, that is just how the game works.  That night we went to a Colorado Mammoth game, the Mammoth are an indoor Lacrosse team, we know nothing about lacrosse but it was very entertaining.  When I say entertaining I really mean ridiculous.  This was their season opener so there was explosions and fire works and muscle cars for some reason and all the cheerleaders came out on the back of motorcycles and this was before the game even started.  It was really just as much a spectacle as it was a sporting even, I would compare it to hockey about 40 years ago when it was just a bunch of guys punching each other in the face.  My favorite example of excessiveness was the Mammoth “Hot Seat” which was a hot tube full of  bikini clad women right next to the glass.  I felt creepy talking a picture from our cheap seats with full zoom but it was just to ridiculous not to.  The game ended, I don’t remember who won,  and proceeded to walk down town to eat at a place with a lot of clocks on the wall that didn’t work.
Sunday, we decided to visit the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. The museum is a large airplane hangar that is part of the former Lowry Air Force Base, Chris always wanted to go but could never convince Kathleen.   At the entrance there was a nice older gentleman that told us all about the exhibits but Gillian was having a hard time listening because directly behind him was a Star Wars X-Wing.  Gillian was stoked, I took a lot of pictures, it was a great way to spend an afternoon.   That evening we stayed in, made tacos and played a few games.  Ben and Jordan came over  to play Pictionary and Trivial Pursuit.
The trip was just what we both needed and as we left on Monday morning we had no idea that our wonderful weekend would turn into utter crap.
UPDATE: It is official, I am a DWBEC
