October Already?

Ok, so I have done these “where has the time gone” posts a few time before  and I think now that I have a daughter they are even more cliche but I have a number of things to blog about an if I try to make each one its own post it just plan won’t happen.  So here we go I apologize in advance if I forget something and as always the horrible grammar.

First off, I like how the word “blog” can be both a noun and a verb and that it didn’t exist 12 years ago.

Secondly, I must insist that everyone refers to me as the Godfather.  My sister asked me to be her son’s Godfather and the Sunday September 5th 2010, Lucas was baptized.  The ceremony was held at St. Thomas More and was performed by Father Ryan Lewis. Lucas was dressed in an all white tuxedo…very cute.  I was in charge of lighting the baptism candle, so naturally I spent the entire time telling myself “Don’t drop the candle!!” the pictures look nice though.  I joke but it was an honor to be asked to be Lucas’ Godfather and it is not a responsibility I take lightly.  I guess know I can make Lucas call me Uncle Godfather…yea, I like that!

Two weeks after the State Fair was Husker Harvest Days, yes I completely changed subjects there.  HHD, as we call it, is the nation’s largest working farm show.  Needless to say it is incredibly important to Case New Holland, my employer for those of you playing at home.  The show is only three days long and I was scheduled to work the New Holland booth on opening day, but I came down with a stomach “bug” and wasn’t able to get to the show until the afternoon of the last day.  Gillian and Elena accompanied me that afternoon, not that there was really anything they want to see, but they live here so they should see it once.  To be honest this year I wasn’t impressed.  There is a lack of pictures because I go to this show to see what the competition is bringing to the table and all I saw was the same old stuff.  We did have one of our concept hydrogen tractors in the New Holland booth, but nothing even close to exciting from anyone else.  I guess that is a good thing.

Gillian started back to work at two new jobs.  After 4 years Gillian left her job at the Children’s Rehab Center to take two new jobs; the first as an Occupational Therapist in a skilled nursing facility, the other as an Instructor for the COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) program at the local community college.  The choice for her to leave her current job was a very difficult one and her boss and co-workers where less then understanding, but we won’t go in to that.  In the end, she is now rehabilitating the elderly instead of children and teaching college students and though she has two jobs they both allow her enough flexibility for her to be home every night by 4:30pm.

Finally, I cannot have a post without discussing the little lady that has taken over our lives.  Elena started at Cathedral Daycare a few weeks ago and is doing very well with the change in schedule, Mommy drops her off and Daddy picks her up.  Gillian and I have also been very pleased with Cathedral’s staff and facilities.  Elena has also sleeping more at night and recently she slept from 8pm to 6am, when I had to wake her up!  This hasn’t become an every night thing yet, but it is funny how you don’t realize how much you have been missing a full night’s sleep is until you finally get one.
