Happy Birthday Sarah…

March 1, 2009

and happy new job, now you have to get a facebook account, dammit!

Back to Sarah’s birthday party, which was two weeks ago now, I type very slowly.  Sarah’s party was the same day as a local radio station’s charity bar hopping miniature golf  tournament thing.  There where teams and a hole at every bar, so you basically bar hop and drink for charity.  We where not on a team, Sarah just knew some people, we also didn’t drink much because it started early in the afternoon and bar hopping with the sun out just felt wrong.

The party was at this tiny little bar that served some of the greatest pizza I have ever had.  We managed to cram about 30 people, some of which I don’t think actually knew Sarah,  around on large table.  After pizza it was on to Karaoke!

Ok, karaoke was kind of a fail.  First off they had all the light on, who sings karaoke with the lights on!?!  Secondly they played far to much country for a karaoke bar that normally never plays county.  Thirdly, if was full of ass hats who took the whole thing way to seriously, including the DJ or what every you call the guy running karaoke, huge ass hat!  We did have a lot of fun though, mostly making fun of the ass hats.

The worst part was that it was becoming more obvious that we are all starting to get a little older, we where back home from the bars by 11:30.

I apologize for my flagrant use of the word “ass hat”.

Dear, Brandon…Thank You!!

February 11, 2009
Last weekend Mark and Linda brought down this 42″ Plasma TV, it is Brandon’s  TV,  I’m just babysitting it…for three years, while he and Erika are in Germany.
In honor of new TV, Santi and Sarah and Liz came down.  Friday night we went out, Sarah managed to loose her credit card.  Saturday we stayed in and played “Rock Band”, it looks awesome on the new TV.  Sunday, Liz made french toast, it was a good weekend.
Oh, and I found out today that our cable company is filing for bankruptcy, so I don’t really know if we are going to have cable in a month.

Repetative Themes

January 17, 2009

If I didn’t know better I would say this blog is dedicated to “Rock Band“, the odd things my dog does, and my occasional wardrobe faux pas.  Yes, most of my posts involve Gillian, myself, and a small cast of characters getting together, playing “Rock Band”, and celebrating some holiday or event, that isn’t going to change.

Anyway, I recently bought a new camera, thanks Grandma.  It is a Sony W-150, I picked it because I really like my old camera, a Sony P-72.  The only reason I  got a new camera is, I wanted one that would fit in my pocket.  When I got the P-72 I thought it was tiny, now it looks like the camera equivalent of a DynaTAC 8000X.

I also recently put together one of our wedding gifts, a Ferrari 430 Spider…byLego, thanks Retzer.  Gillian started to help, but then got tiered and went to bed, I on the other hand stayed up until 1:00 a.m. and finished it!  I built a Lego Ferrari F1 car years ago(yes, Gillian bought it for me) that I keep on my desk at work

Oh, I changed my masthead, I didn’t think my beard looked that red.

The Frost’s Year in Review

December 18, 2008

xmascard2

I know it is cliché, but where has the time gone, seriously we are about to start 2009 and I still accidentally write 05.

When I started to types this I really had no idea what I was going to put down, this year didn’t seem to be that interesting. Gillian and I had a bit of a brain storming session and we came up with a few things to write about. This is my first time writing a Christmas letter so bear with me I will probably jump around a bit.

Gillian started off this year by deciding to go back to school, and had found a program at UNK to get her prereqs for med school at UNMC in Omaha. Yes, Gillian wanted to go back to school, I thought she was crazy but she had to try. She started classes in August, but has recently decided that her first semester back will also be her last. It wasn’t that the classes where too difficult it was more the realization that being back in school meant, going back to doing nothing but studying, and it wasn’t going to end any time soon. She also really loves her job and decided she wanted to continue having a life.

I started off the year by pulling the engine out of my 1963 Ford Falcon and have been slowly rebuilding the engine and everything else on the car. It is still not all back together but I am hoping to have it running by the summer, this may be a lofty goal.

We have done a few home improvement projects this year including tearing down and rebuilding our deck, paint a few rooms, including the living room again, and inclosing the backyard with a fence so Gordie doesn’t wonder off.

In July, just before Gillian started back to school, we took the camper that Gillian’s parents gave us and drove to Moab Utah. We hiked around Arches National Park and went Rafting down the Colorado River. It was an amazing trip except for blowing a tire on the way out there, during a hale storm and the fact that Moab Utah in late July is about 3 million degrees and our camper doesn’t have air conditioning like everyone else’s at the camp ground. We saw two movies while we where there just so we could sit in some AC for a while.

Gordie, our Dog, had some minor surgery about three months ago. He and Uno, Howland’s dog, collided at the dog park while chasing a ball, when I say collided I mean this was the kind of hit that made everyone at the dog park stop and gasp, I honestly that dog had knocked them selves out! Uno was bleeding and limping; Gordie was bleeding a little too but was completely unphased. Three days later we realized part of his tooth was missing, the vet recommended it be removed and while removing it realized the tooth next to it was mostly gone and removed that one too.

Gillian is now legally a Frost. After two years of marriage Gillian decided it was time to change her name…I guess. She had originally decided to keep her last name, which I never had a problem with. But a few months ago she decided to take my name. I don’t really know why she changed her mind, she doesn’t either.

This is the first year I put up Christmas lights. I got a box of icicle lights from grandpa that could probably wrap around the house three times. I also go a 6 foot snowman that my father had made. I put the icicle lights along the roof, snowman in the front yard and some snowflake lights on the railing of the porch. I come from a long line of Christmas lighters, so this is a fairly simple setup, I am sure it will be grander next year. I only fell off the ladder once and I landed on my feet so I don’t know if that counts.

Well I think that is pretty much the highlights of our last year, so from Grand Island, Nebraska Gillian, Olive, Gordie and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I Died a Little Today

November 21, 2008

We have this printer at work, and it is a gigantic piece of crap.  It started making a grinding noise today, I seriously got up from my desk expecting to see someone building or destroying something.  Anyway my point, as I stood there with two other guys I work with, watching the printer destroy itself, I made a comment, “Hey, you guys remember the movie Office Space”.  It was supposed to be a joke about how we should take the printer out into a field and beat it with a baseball bat, but I was appalled that neither of them had seen the movie.  I started asking around and no one I work with has seen the movie!!  This is the problem I have with my job, 9 times out of 10 when I make a joke all I get are blank stairs and it’s not because I’m not funny, I’m funny Dammit!  Anyway, this all made me died a little.

I Voted, Robot Nixon

November 5, 2008

Not really, but it did cross my mind.  I voted, like a few other Nebraskans, for Obama.  I guess this will be one of those things we will tell our children about… as they roll there eyes.

Obama may have won, but Bush still has two months to destoy the world.

Pajama Pants + Shredder = Awesome!

October 28, 2008
I know, a little creepy, but the polar bear pajama pants were on their last leg, so I put them in the paper shredder.  Last weekend we got some things done around the house.  We finally finished painting the front door, aerating the yard, and blew the water out of the sprinkler system for the winter. Gillian got her new social security card in the mail today, she didn’t want me to take a picture of it for some reason.  I posted more Gordie vs Olive videos.  Gordie had two teeth removed last week after slamming into Uno (Gillian’s Uncle’s dog) and breaking them, while chasing a ball at the dog park, he was completely unfazed.

Home Alone

September 10, 2008

Gillian doesn’t come home from Kearney on Tuesdays.  She has a late class and an early class on Wednesday, so she stays with Sarah’s parents.  That means I have to feed myself dinner, so that means I make a frozen pizza and I don’t have to wear pants while I do it, damnit.  I always burn the roof of my mouth on Red Baron pizza for some reason. My tattoo itches like crazy, I hope that is a good thing.  Gillian did call to talk; apparently Physics is stupid, I beg to differ.  Oh, and I am tied of animals using the bathroom in my garage!  I noticed a puddle under the Falcon this morning, so I did what I always do when I see a puddle in the garage, stick my finger in it and smell it… yep, that’s cat piss!  Olive has peeped in the garage the last two nights, granted she was locked in there all night.

eBay Blue Star

September 4, 2008
About three days ago my eBay feedback rating reached 50!  As most of you know, because I have been selling your stuff, I have been selling quite a bit over the last 8 months. I originally started selling old car parts so I could buy new car parts.  After selling my “project bike” for 3 times what I bought it for, I was hooked.  Now instead of being a means to pay for my hobby, eBay has turned into a hobby all it’s own and somewhat of a side job.  See what I am currently selling here.  If you want me to sell something just let me know.

Third Time is a Charm

September 2, 2008

This will be my third attempt at staring and maintaining a blog.  My first attempt was in May of 2005 when my good friend and roommate Eliot Phillips started his own and started working for Hack A Day, my blog lasted about 12 minutes when I realized I had nothing to say. I tried again in October of 2006, I made two post then quickly lost interest.  Then, one of my other good friend Dan Benesh started his own blog. I thought about writing a long winded synapsis of the last three years, but anyone who is going to read this already knows my high(and low) light reel of the last three years. So here we go…again.  The picture is from Gillian and I’s honeymoon, it’s not relivant, it’s just a nice picture of us.
